The "Pizolada delle Dolomiti" is one of the first and most representative touring ski competitions in the Alps (its first edition was held in 1973). The name "Pizolada" derives from the Ladin words "se pizolar" that means "to slide sweetly on the soft snow by ski or sledge". And this is the main aim of this competition: bring the skiers in touch with an amazing world made of nature, snow and energy.
Programme: athletes take on five steep ascends and five descends for a total length of 13 km and a 1,710 m of drop (classic itinerary). Junior runners deal with a shorter variant of the track three ascends and three descends (10 km long and 1,095 m drop; short track). Two different exciting challengesthat can be seen by the public from the ski runs of San Pellegrino Pass. The starting line of both tracks is set by the cable car Col Margherita.
