Winter 2017-2018 boasts many important news: skiers will find a gondola instead of a cable car and two renovated chair lifts, while the rise time from Pera to "Pian Pecei", in the ski area Catinaccio, will be reduced thank to two modern 4-seater chair lifts.
Ski area Ciampac will enhance the fame of Val di Fassa as a cutting edge ski destination in the Alps thanks to the modernity of its lifts and the quality of its slopes. At the end of the present winter, the Ciampac cable car will retire and be replaced by a gondola having 10-seater cabins and a load capacity of 2000 people per hour. «We will guarantee a steady flow of skiers - explains Tullio Pitscheider, president of Ciampac and Contrin spa - avoiding the queues that used to jam the hub of Alba in the main affluence periods after the opening of the funifor Alba-Col dei Rossi in December 2015. The cable care is now used both by skiers ascending from the town to the Ciampac, but also by skiers coming from Belvedere (Canazei) and Sellaronda and from Buffaure (Pozza), moving in both senses. The new gondola will surely boost the number of descents along the black slope of Ciampac, whose appeal has been undermined by the long waiting times at the valley station during the high season periods.»
Beside the new lift, the whole setting of the ski area Ciampac will undergo a restyling, thanks to a new couple of chair lifts: the "Roseal" will turn into an automatic coupler 4-seater chair lift reaching the "Sella Brunech", representing the connection point to/from Buffaure for people skiing the so called Skitour Panorama (73 km), while the chair lift "Sella Brunech" will be modernized and stop at the current halfway station, dividing the ski area into a beginners and an advanced skiers zone. The presence of three construction sites at an high altitude and one at the gondola valley station will involve the closure of the area from spring to. Skiers will be welcomed by important news also in Pera next winter. The chair lifts reaching "Pian Pecei" will be replaced by two 4-seater bubble equipped one: «In this way, beside increasing the transport comfort also the transport speed will be improved», states Claudio Bernard, president of Funivie Catinaccio, the company that will invest about € 7 million in the new lifts and in the development the artificial snow making system.
