Culture and tradition merge together in "Sunrise in Alpine dairy farm", an initiative supported by Trentino Marketing with the collaboration of local Tourism Boards of Trentino and the food&wine associations named Strada del Vino (Road of Wine) and Strada dei Sapori (Road of Flavours). In July and August, the Alpine dairy farms will alternately welcome those guests, who want to rediscover the tradition of summer mountain pasture and experience the work of an high altitude dairyman.
Val di Fassa will host three dates of "Albe in Malga" next summer: on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th July at Malga Jumela (1,978 m), reachable from Buffaure (Pozza di Fassa) and located in the valley having the same name; on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th July is the turn of Malga Sasso Piatto (2,300 m), reachable from Col Rodella (Campitello di Fassa) along the historic and panoramic path "Friedrich August Weg"; on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th August again at Malga Jumela (1,978 m) for a special appointment dedicated to the families with children. Different mountain locations, but the programme remains more or less the same: an easy, pleasant excursion to reach the high altitude refuge (Baita Cuz and Sasso Piatto), where guests will have dinner and stay overnight. The day starts at dawn with an early waking up. We will accompany dairymen in the different stages of their daily work: collecting cattle from the pasture and leading them into the cowshed, milking cows, producing butter, ricotta and other delicious cheeses. After a genuine, organic products breakfast, let’s start for a new hike with the Alpine guides. We will have packet-lunch sitting in the open air or at a mountain refuge, and in the afternoon we will return down to the valley. As #albeinmalga is a very exclusive, niche proposal, you should quickly book your participation to one or all appointments. On this occasion, Val di Fassa Tourism Board has arranged specific all-inclusive package holidays, so jump at the chance!
