Excursions for the whole family to discover the Alpine pastures where the cattle graze peacefully and undisturbed, and to discover the high altitude mountain dairies where the cows are still milked following age-old procedures handed down through the generations, to make dairy products of the finest quality.
Around the mountain dairies "classic", medium-level excursion.
Meeting place: at 8.30 a.m. by the valley station of Ciampac cabin lift in Alba di Canazei.
Programme: starting from the parking area in front of Ciampac cabin lift in Alba di Canazei, we will walk along path no. 602 which leads first to Baita Locia Contrin and then to the Contrin Refuge. The valley is surrounded by magnificent peaks such as Marmolada, the "Cime di Ombretta" (Ombretta peaks) and the "Sasso Vernale". The excursion lasts about 1 hour and 45 minutes and ends at Malga Contrin (traditional mountain dairy), at an altitude of 2,027 meters, with a herd of cattle grazing on the surrounding Alpine pastures from June to September. Here the visit to the mountain dairy begins, accompanied by some explanations about the production of dairy products and some genuine tastings.
Compulsory registration by the Tourist Offices of the valley within 6.30 p.m. of the previous day with the Val di Fassa Card.
Fee: adults 12,00 €; children (between 7 and 14 years) 6,00 € (traditional products tasting included). The fee must be paid at the enrolment and it includes a traditional prodcts tasting.
Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions required. Any transport service used in the excursion is to be paid directly by participants. No transfer service is included.
