Excursions for the whole family to discover the Alpine pastures where the cattle graze peacefully and undisturbed, and to discover the high altitude mountain dairies where the cows are still milked following age-old procedures handed down through the generations, to make dairy products of the finest quality.
Around the mountain dairies "hiking", medium-level and longer excursion.
Meeting point: at 8.30 a.m. by the valley station of the Col Rodella cable car in Campitello di Fassa.
Programme: we take the cable car up to Col Rodella (2,387 m). From here we follow path no. 557, called "Friedrich-August-Weg" (king of Saxony), which is mainly flat and easy. We pass near the Friedrich August Refuge and the Sandro Pertini Refuge (2,300 m). We come to the Malga Sasso Piatto (traditional mountain dairy), with a herd of cattle grazing on the Alpine pastures from June to September. Here the visit to the mountain dairy begins, accompanied by some explanations regarding the production of dairy products and some genuine tastings. Then we descend along the Val Duron to return to Campitello di Fassa.
Compulsory registration by the Tourist Offices of the valley within 6.30 p.m. of the previous day with the Val di Fassa Card.
Fee: adults 12,00 €; children (between 7 and 14 years) 6,00 €. The fee must be paid at the time of enrolment and it includes a traditional products tasting.
Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions required. Any transport service used in the excursion is to be paid directly by participants. No transfer service is included.
