 The think-tank of ideas in the Dolomites in the form of a festival is back. Prominent guests, mountaineers and experts will discuss the present and future of the mountains.

 Programme - Canazei Campo Base:

• Thursday 21 July at 9.00 p.m. - "L’uomo che accarezza la roccia" ("The man who caresses the rock"). The life and mountaineering of Pierluigi Bini. Screening of the docu-film by directors Fabrizio Antonioli and Stefano Ardito. Followed by a debate with the participation of local mountain guides Almo Giambisi, Tone Valeruz and Bruno Pederiva;
• Thursday 28 July at 9.00 p.m. - "Amelia B. Edwards e le pioniere delle Dolomiti" ("Amelia B. Edwards and the pioneers of the Dolomites"). Discoveries, exploits and adventures of the first female explorers of our mountains, with the participation of Alan Boyle and Susan Boyle, authors of the book "Spiriti delle Dolomiti" ("Spirits of the Dolomites"), and Andrea Selva, RAI journalist;
• Thursday 4 August at 9.00 p.m. - "Salire in montagna" ("Going up mountains"). High lands and climate change. Meeting with Luca Mercalli, president of the Italian Meteorological Society, climatologist, journalist and populariser. Mountains are one of the ways to escape global warming. Together with sustainable technologies, energy efficiency and a more contemplative and less competitive life. Luca Mercalli is the protagonist of a vertical migration, which he recounts in his book "Salire in montagna" ("Going up mountains"), where he explains why the mountains are a place to be re-inhabited. His experience, the possibilities of adaptation to climate change, the role of the Dolomites as a destination not only for tourism, are the topics of the meeting with Italy's most famous meteorologist;
• Thursday 11 August at 9.00 p.m. - "Salire in montagna" ("Going up mountains"). High lands and climate change. • Thursday 18 August at 9.00 p.m. - "L'arte sulle Dolomiti" ("Art in the Dolomites"). Visions and interpretations of the mountains. A meeting with Vittorio Sgarbi, Italian art critic and president of the "Mart" museum in Rovereto. The Dolomites, and mountains in general, seen and narrated through the eyes of artists and their works. An unusual, brilliant and surprising account of the mountains, as only Vittorio Sgarbi, internationally renowned art critic, can do;
• Friday 26 August at 9.00 p.m. - "75 anni di SITC - Società Incremento Turistico Canazei" ("75 years of SITC)". Meeting with: Fiorenzo Perathoner, former president of SITC and Dolomiti Superski; Daniele Dezulian, president of SITC; Daniela Perathoner, councillor of the SITC board of directors. The ski-lifting evolution of the Val di Fassa, which has long been one of the most appreciated destinations for Alpine skiing, is closely linked to the Società Incremento Turistico Canazei which, in 2022, will celebrate 75 years of activity. The company has always played a central role in Fassa tourism, being the economic, industrial and technological engine of the valley. Its vicissitudes, steeped in difficulties and challenges overcome, are recounted, also through curiosities and anecdotes, by those who have seen the company grow and are still part of it today;
• Thursday 1 September at 9.00 p.m. - "Jir sa mont". The conscious and prudent frequentation of the mountain. Evening with: Iole Manica and Elena Guella, vice-presidents of the Italian Mountaineers Club (SAT - Società Alpinisti Tridentini); Licia Favé, president of the Italian Mountaineers Club - Upper Val di Fassa section; Fabio Giongo, mountain guide and contact person for the "Sa Mont" project; Stefano Coter, head of the Alta Fassa Mountain Rescue Service. Facing the mountains with "prudence" is the concept that from this summer we want to spread among enthusiasts and neophytes of high altitudes. Aware that "risk" cannot be ruled out, experts from the "SAT" of Trento and local sections, mountain guides and representatives of the Fassa Mountain Rescue provide useful advice to those who wish to explore the Dolomites and other peaks;
• Wednesday 21 September at 9.00 p.m. - "Futurism. A heartfelt appeal against tourism monoculture". Meeting with Michil Costa, hotelier, environmentalist and visionary. The repercussions of tourist monoculture are especially evident in the Alps. Michil Costa, exuberant and enthusiastic hotelier, man of culture, environmentalist and visionary, calls for a new sense of doing tourism, against the industrialisation of the tourist economy and in favour of a culture of hospitality based on the solid values of the common good, sustainability and humanity.
