Sounds of the Dolomites (I Suoni delle Dolomiti) is a unique high altitude music festival which brings musicians from across the world to the most beautiful mountains of the Alps. The idea is simple and at the same time fascinating: to combine the passion for music and the mountains, art and the environment, in a concert programme celebrating freedom and nature. Participants set off from the valley floor and head for clearings and hollows near the mountain refuges, natural theatres in which the music is performed in complete harmony with the surroundings. The festival features internationally renowned artists who, instruments on their shoulders, display their shared regard for the environment by joining the public in walking to the concert venues, on what is both an art and a nature trail. It’s the outcome of the cooperation between Trentino Marketing and the Val di Fassa Tourist Board.
Sounds of the Dolomites: Ferenc Snétberger und Tony Lakatos. Passo alle Selle Refuge (San Pellegrino Pass), at 12.00 p.m. Because of bad weather, the concert will be postponed at 5.30 p.m.
Programme: world music. An encounter between two great virtuosos, one on guitar, the other on saxophone. From a family of musicians, Ferenc Snétberger’s father taught him to play the guitar under the influence of many styles, from jazz to Brazilian music, from Django Reinhardt to Egberto Gismondi, and even Johann Sebastian Bach. The mix is unique, as is the sound of his guitar. Alongside him is Toni Lakatos, one of the world’s foremost saxophonists, so sought after that he has appeared on hundreds of jazz recordings.
How to get to the Passo alle Selle Refuge: drive your own car up to the San Pellegrino Pass. Take the Costabella chair lift (opening hours 8.30 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.) and from the upstream chair lift station follow the path no. 604 to Passo delle Selle (walking time 50 mins). On the day of the concert it is possible to go on an excursion accompanied by the local Alpine guides (free for the Val di Fassa Card and Trentino Guest Card holders). Info and enrolment: Phone +39 0462 609670 (Tourist Office of Pozza), from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. The concerts of Sounds of the Dolomites are for free. We suggest to reach the venue at least one hour before the scheduled time.
Because of bad weather, the concert will be held at 5.30 p.m. at the Theatre Navalge in Moena. A limited number of tickets will be available from 3.30 p.m.
