From 2009, these mountains belong to the 50 most beautiful landscapes in Europe and to the 199 ones throughout the world. The Dolomites well deserve to be considered one of the most amazing places on Earth due to their undeniable aesthetic value, their unique geological composition and the wealth of flora with over 2,400 different species. In particular, UNESCO awarded this important acknowledgement to the ranges of: Marmolada, Catinaccio-Latemar, Sciliar, Pale di San Martino, Brenta Dolomites, Cadini and Dolomiti di Sesto, Dolomiti di Fanes, Senes-Braies, Puez-Odle, Rio delle Foglie, Pelmo and Croda da Lago, Pale di San Lucano and Dolomiti Bellunesi, Dolomiti Friuliuane and Oltre Piave. In total it is a stretch of 142,000 hectares, integrated into an area of a further 90,000 hectares, distributed between the provinces of Trento, Bolzano, Belluno, Udine and Pordenone.
