Discover with us the most beautiful corners of Vigo:
Solar, the quarter lying between Strada de Solar and Strada de la Piazedela represents today the very centre of the village. It has retained its original face, with some big labourer’s cottages (in Ladin Tobié). In Strada de la Torn de Vich was the building, symbol of the Imperial power, were justice was dispensed. Unfortunately this tower was demolished in 1935.
Val, this quarter, lying in Strada de Val, represents the most ancient part of the town. It retains still today its original face, thanks to an eighteenth century crucifix and some old barns. Here we have news of the oldest barn of the village, with the date 1606.
Costa, walking through Strada de Costa you can see a big fountain, (called in Ladin festil) with three separate basins: the smallest was for doing the washing, the second one for rinsing and the third for watering the cattle. We find here another beautiful crucifix; typical symbol of the religious culture, which was used to be placed in the corners of the streets.
Larcioné, in this part of the village (whose name derives from the Latin Laricetu, larch wood) it is possible to see a particular building: in fact it is provided with two bread ovens. This fact is obviously an exception, as in each hamlet there was just one of them. Near this house, starts a small path, which brings to Tamion.
Tamion, this small village lies 4 kilometres far away from Vigo. Here we can find a small church, which dates back to 1708. It is consecrated to the Holy Trinity. In the church we can admire a baroque altar, with the wood statues of Saint Nicholas, Louis and the risen Christ, and a beautiful painting representing Jesus, probably work of the artist Valentino Rovisi from Moena.
Vallonga, another small village lying on the street directed to Bolzano. The name means long valley. In this village too, we can see some beautiful labourer’s cottages. The church here is consecrated to Saint John Nepomucen, and dates back to 1700. Inside the church we can see statues of different saints. A beautiful painting by the local artist Maurizio Anes depicts the four Evangelists and the Last Supper.
Activity against payment. 1.30 hour walking. Adults € 10, children up to 12 years € 5. Aperitif included. Reservation required calling Mr. Andrea +39 335 7479965.
