Resort: Sèn Jan di Fassa - Pera di Fassa
Categories: Museums and exhibitions

Openining times: all year round

Description: launched in 2013, the section of the Ladin Museum in Pera is dedicated to the thousand-year-old art of breeding and cheese-making. Two activities that have been practiced in the valley since the prehistoric times, and that have strengthened through the transhumance, one of the highlights of the local trade system, as witnessed by the "Pèster", (the shepherd) whose figure has been reported as an historical emblem since 1607. The processing of milk, butter and cheese and the common handling of the pastures through the centuries are narrated through ancient pictures, huge screens showing videos of pastures at altitude, descriptive panels and many objects such as ancient churns and mouldings.
The current work of the cheese factory can be seen through some huge windows that overlook the productive area. It is possible to taste the products at the adjacent shop.

Notes: the area is accessible to disabled people.
