Hikes, paths and itineraries on the high mountain in Trentino’s Dolomites
Hiking is the queen of summer activities in Val di Fassa. Its paths’ network (signaled in red and white) is really dense and allows to explore every corner of the valley. You can choose both easy walks surrounded by nature and challenging itineraries that reach the summits of the "Monti Pallidi" (Pale Mountains). The routes suggested here, subdivided by typology, difference of level and difficulty level, satisfy all the hikers, from expert mountaineers to families with children. We disclaim legal responsibilities for contingent damages or accidents that may occur along the suggested paths. Suggested time for hiking: from June to the beginning of October. Have a look to the paths’ and refuges’ map. Check out also: rules for safety hiking in the mountains.

This beautiful scenic walk, ideal for the whole family, begins at Ciampedìe (1,998 m), a natural terrace overlooking the town of Vigo di Fassa. Ciampedìe is easily reached by cableway. Parking is in the immediate vicinity of the valley station of the cableway.
The trail ends in Gardeccia (1,948 m). Return walking along the same route backward or follow the so called "Path of Legends", yet not accessible to strollers. Bars and mountain refuges are available in the area.
Description path 1/d: take the cable car from Vigo di Fassa, and in a few minutes you will reach Ciampedìe (1,998 m) with its superb view of the Fassa Dolomites. From the cable car go to the nearby Ciampedìe Refuge and then down to the Negritella Refuge. The path starts here. It is wide and flat and, once past the ski-run, goes into the woods. As you walk, the view of the "Larséch" mountain to the right changes continually, and the Catinaccio mountain becomes gradually more and more imposing. You come out of the woods near a few wooden huts and in a few minutes arrive at the refuges of the Gardeccia basin (1,948 m).
The Forest Path is a theme-based itinerary dealing with the secrets of high mountain nature. Trail no. 540 starts from Ciampedìe and leads to Gardeccia. You will find 24 informative plaques all along the route, each one revealing interesting details about the surrounding Alpine environment and the animals living in the forest near Vigo.
