In respect of the government decrees to face the diffusion of the novel Coronavirus and conscious that the health of the participants is a priority, the organising committees of the bike initiatives cancel the 2020 events and give appointment to next summer with the new dates: the Dolomites Bike Day will take place on Saturday, June 16th, 2021 and the Sellaronda Bike Day on Saturday, June 26th.
The emergency that the whole world is facing these weeks has disrupted any plan of activities and all the events calendars, and also the world of tourism and of the sport events have suffered the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Along the streets of the Dolomites, June has become a month that is traditionally rich in bike events, able to gather thousands of aficionados cycling on the mountain passes before the Sella massif, and most in details two "free events" such as the Sellaronda Bike Day and the Dolomites Bike Day which have had to surrender, due to the persisting of the emergency.
"The safety of our guests, of their travel mates and of our whole staff of volunteers comes first" is the common thought of the organizing committees, conscious that there aren’t the necessary conditions to put thousand bikers on the streets yet.
In the light of these considerations, the organizing committees of the two events give official communication of the cancellation of the two events.
A tough but necessary decision, especially because the priority is to safeguard the health of all the participants, to whom the two organizations give appointment to next year, by indicating the dates of the two events already. The Dolomites Bike Day and its 51 kilometres, drawn along the three mountain passes of Falzarego, Valparola and Campolongo, await you on Saturday, 21st June, 2021 while the historic Sellaronda Bike Day will take place two weeks later, on Saturday, June 26th with more than 22.000 bikers cycling through the passes of Sella, Gardena, Pordoi and Campolongo.
Both the initiatives envisage the closure of the streets to the traffic and no subscription is requested to take part in them: a non-competitive form of cycling that aspires to a wider and wider number of accessions, in harmony with the dolomitic environment.
See you in 2021 so, on the streets of the Dolomites, for the two Bike Days that throughout the years have been combining the cycling with the spirit of aggregation and the beauty of the mountains.
