The Ladin valley, which will host the "FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships" from February 18 to 27, offers top ski slopes, lifts and fun for the whole season
A world-class 2018-2019 season is announced in Val di Fassa where, from February 18 to 27, 2019, the "Junior World Ski Championships" take place: the best 500 young (under 20) skiers in the world will gather in the Ladin valley to conquer the 33 medals at stake - from slalom to giant slalom, from super-G to downhill, to alpine combined - challenging on the slopes Aloch in Pozza and La Volata on San Pellegrino Pass, expressly prepared for international competitions. A huge event that, with a series of races, events and parties, rewards the ski-vocation of the valley - which has always been home to world-class athletes like the slalom-skiers Stefano Gross and Chiara Costazza, as well as FISI training centre for the national Alpine Ski team - and shows the young and sporty winter soul of the resort. A dynamic icon that reflects the cutting edge of its mountain lifts, as well as the offer of slopes and ski tours: there are 7 ski areas in Val di Fassa, linked "on ski" or by an excellent ski bus service, equipped with 86 modern lifts, 4 ski tours - among which the famous "Sellaronda" and the exciting "Panorama", 6 snow parks, 210 km on 152 slopes and a superlativeartificial snow-making system (enhanced again this year for almost 1 million euro) that always ensures an excellent condition of the slopes. And, for what concerns the lifts, the unfailing improvement of this year: the renovation of the chairlift "Pian Pecei-Ciampedie" (investment: 2,5 million euro) that, together with the chairlifts Vajolet 1 and 2 that were replaced last winter with two quicker, automatic fixed coupling 4-seater chairlifts, completes the enhancement of the access to the ski area Catinaccio from the village of Pera. The new chairlift joins the latest jewels of the valley: the innovative D-Line cabin lift, connecting Alba di Canazei (1,495 m) and the ski area Ciampac (2,046 m) in few minutes and efficiently on work since last year, and the nearest funifor Alba-Col dei Rossi (launched in December 2015). Both the lifts make the access to the Sellaronda circuit quicker and more amusing, starting from the village of Pozza.
Learning…to ski is so much fun
For what concerns the services, a most important news of the next season is the enlargement and the renovation of the ski school Marmolada headquarter in Canazei that, with more than 100 instructors, is considered a spearhead in the Alps, thanks to the innovation of its proposals for ski-teaching: the structure, that includes huge offices, a kinderland with restaurant and a modern ski rental, will become bigger and cosier. This follows the renovation of the ski school Dolomiti in Moena in 2017: the two, together with the schools of Campitello, Pozza and Vigo ensure professionalism to those who want to improve their technique: all the schools in Val di Fassa boast the "golden seal", the most important acknowledgement for teaching, to children in particular.
Fun from dawn to sunset
Val di Fassa guarantees a wide offer to skiers but also much fun. At altitude, for example, there are the numerous appointments with #trentinoskisunrise, the ski experience at dawn that gives the chance to slide on just-beaten tracks and taste a delicious breakfast that gives energy for the whole day (event open to non-skiers too), but also the aperitifs on the snow at sunset, when the sun paints the peaks of the Dolomites with the colours of the "Enrosadira". But you can also plunge in the most silent nature with snowshoes excursions and walks through crystal peaks and woods or, if you are more adventurous, climb an ice-wall and fly with a tandem paraglider. Add the warmth of refuges, with traditional dishes for lunch as well as suggestive dinners at altitude, traditional inns and top-quality food in gourmet and starred restaurants. Do not miss the trendy nights in the après-ski and in the pubs, listening to music and dancing till late. Luxury and relaxation are, instead, the prerogative of the new QC Terme Dolomiti, with the cuddles of the water of the source Aloch, which becomes curative by the nearest Terme Dolomia. Water, thus, is also a game by the water centre Dòlaondes in Canazei and by the Aquapark Vidor in Pozza.
