A Ladin flag was donated by the representative of the Comun general de Fascia (the valley community) so that – keeping in mind their roots- the athletes will be ambassadors of the Ladin community in South Korea. A book about the history of Dolomiti Superski lifts and slopes, now hosting the Italian teams, gifted by Daniele Dezulian, president of Consorzio di impianti a fune Val di Fassa e Carezza, the lifts company of the valley. Typical local products delivered by Fausto Lorenz, president of APT Val di Fassa.
Stefano Gross and Chiara Costazza, and the snowboarder Mirko Felicetti will head to South Korea for the Olympic Games in PyeongChang from February 9 to 25 with lots of gifts and the support of the valley, after the greetings with the local representatives at Chalet Valbona at Alpe Lusia Ski Area. «We are proud of you, we will support you and we are sure that you will give your best, as you have always done», said Elena Testor, Dezulian and Lorenz to the three athletes going to the Olympic Games. Chiara Costazza is going to participate to her fourth Olympic Games (his first time was Torino 2006, where she ranked 8th in slalom): «I live this adventure – stated the local skier- with total commitment. It is a one-shot competition, so I will do my best to complete the two rounds». The Olympic slalom could also be the success that Stefano Gross has not pursued in the World Cup yet, although his performances were extremely close to the podium and also a redemption of his 4th place of Sochi 2014. «In these competitions, being focused plays a fundamental role. A little bit of luck could help: I have already conquered the 4th place, I hope this time I will win a medal» says Stefano Gross, concluding with a smile. Also the snowboarder Mirko Felicetti is enthusiast about the upcoming event to which he has qualified thanks to the 4th position obtained in Banko, a performance that underlines his good preparation: «I am very happy about the participation to the Olympic Games. I have already competed on the Olympic slope and I also know where I can train properly, I will give my best». Not only enthusiasm, but also stress. The thematic was broadly discussed by AngeloDalpez, president of Comitato Trentino Fisi: « The Olympic Games are challenging – stated the president –also because of the expectations of the athletes’ performances. Stefano and Chiara are expert athletes and already have some experience about these competitions, and I am also sure that Mirko will give his best on these Olympic Games in PyeongChang. I am grateful for their efforts and for the commitment for representing Val di Fassa and Trentino as a whole, and I am also grateful for the support of the lifts companies and the Ski Teams, that create the perfect conditions for making new talents growing and improving».
