From June 1st to October 13th, in the village of Val di Fassa, space to shuttle busses, mountain lifts and a shuttle train
Summer in San Giovanni di Fassa - Sèn Jan is eco-friendly. A new mobility system, respectful of the environment, is available from June 1st to October 13th. Aiming at improving the quality of life of inhabitants and guests, the city council has planned a system to reduce the traffic jam, ensuring comfortable and fast movements, both in the villages of Pozza and Vigo and in the hamlets and along the wonderful side valleys: Val San Nicolò, Val Monzoni and Gardeccia.
The mobility in the villages is organized with some 22-seat shuttle busses along two rings: an internal and an external one. The first one links Pera, Pozza and Vigo, while the second one links Muncion, Ronch, Vallonga and Tamion. The internal ring (with 20 stops) counts 18 runs a day (each one takes 53 minutes to make one whole fare) every 30 minutes, with departure from Piaza de Comun in Pozza to 8.30 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. Besides, the external ring departs from the bar Al Ponte with 4 runs a day, two in the morning and two in the afternoon, and stops by 28 different stops. Residents can avail of a season ticket (cost: € 10) while the guests in possession of a Val di Fassa Card/Panorama Pass (which is given to those who are staying in one of the accommodation facilities partner of Val di Fassa Tourist Board) have free access to the service. Other people can buy a 2 euro ticket (valid in the morning from 8.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. or in the afternoon from 2 to 7 p.m.) or a week ticket (€ 10).
Val San Nicolò and Val Monzoni can be reached by shuttle bus: all the fares transit by loc. Vidor (and some depart from Vac in Pera). Several runs a day will serve the two destinations, from 8.20 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., with returns from 9.15 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (cost: adult return ticket € 10; children up to 10 years € 6; adult one-way ticket € 6; children up to 10 years € 3; Val di Fassa Card or PanoramaPass holders can benefit of a 10% discount; € 2 to Malga Crocifisso, free for Val di Fassa Card or PanoramaPass holders).
Val San Nicolò is also served by a shuttle train (against payment), with three runs at morning and three in the afternoon, that leaves from Piaza de Comun and makes several stops on its way to Baita Ciampiè.
Gardeccia, finally, can be reached only by mountain lifts (the shuttle service has been abolished). In June, the cable car Catinaccio in Vigo works from 8.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 2.00 to 7.00 p.m.. In July and August, with the arrival of consistent tourist flows, the service begins at 7.15 a.m. with non-stop service until 7.00 p.m., while from September 9th to October 13th, the timetable are being reduced (8 a.m. -1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.). Another access to Gardeccia consists in the chairlifts Vajolet 1 and 2 from Pera, open from June 8th from 8.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5.45 p.m. (from 2 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. on week-ends in July and August).
