The natural monument of Canazei, which will be one of the 2021 Giro stage cities, has been enlightened one month before the beginning of Italy’s most appreciated cycling race
On April 8th at night, just after sunset and after the so called "enrosadira" phenomenon which enlightens the Dolomites with pink scents, the Giro d’Italia "painted" Sass Pordoi of the same colour. One month before the beginning of the tour, all the 2021 Stage Cities, chose a symbol to illuminate, temporary. Canazei designated its natural landmark, the Sass Pordoi (2950 m), thanks to the collaboration of the volunteer firefighters. And also the "Trofeo Senza Fine", the installation dedicated to the passage of the 100th edition of the Giro in Canazei, was turned pink. This is the place where, on May 26th, the departure of the seventeenth stage "Canazei – Sega di Ala" is scheduled. But the village of Val di Fassa will be protagonist of the pink race since May 24th already, when the racers will run across the Fedaia and the Pordoi pass, during the stage "Sacile-Cortina", which is one of the most exciting of the whole race, due to the presence of these two demanding climbs, where the leaders of the ranking fight with each other. On May 25th, then, the riders will spend a day of rest in Canazei to start again here on 26th, late in the morning, from the town-centre and then pass through the valley bottom towards Sega di Ala, where the arrival is set. At the end of May, so, Canazei and the whole Val di Fassa will be the protagonist of the exciting competition, also thanks to the punctual television reports offered by Rai and to the services that several broadcasts dedicate to the Giro, very popular both in Italy and abroad.
