Captained by the World Cup slalom skier Stefano Gross, the Val di Fassa athletes’ crew brings the colours of the Ladin valley to the most important international competitions
Alpine skiing, snowboarding and slopestyle snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ski mountaineering and ski jumping. Six disciplines for twelve testimonials, competing during the 2020-2021 racing season on important tracks all over the world, which Val di Fassa supports and encourages. A group of skiers who were born, have grown and have been training in the Ladin valley and who are ready to take part in the numerous World Cup, European Cup competitions and in further important circuits – after facing the summer and autumnal training - all in respect of the safety regulations for the common health.
The crew, which renovates every year with "fresh" new entries, is tightly captained by the slalom skier Stefano Gross (34 years old, from Pozza), Val di Fassa most expert and winning ambassador, ready to show his big talent in the next winter World Cup. By his side in the slalom competitions there is Federico Liberatore (25 years old from Mazzin), who took part in 2020 in the World Cup and showed off with two victories (on January 6th in Vuajany and on February 9th in Berchtesgaden) in the European Cup. For what concerns the ladies, there is Monica Zanoner competing in the speed events (21 years old, from Campitello), who takes off from the excellent third place conquered in the downhill competition of the Junior World Championships in Navrik on March 7th (just before the lockdown).
For what concerns the snowboarding, Mirko Felicetti (28 years old, from Moena), is enhanced by his latest victory in the World Cup parallel slalom in Blue Mountain on February 29th, while Caterina Carpano (22 years, from Pozza), goes back to the competitions after a sixth place in a December 2019 snowboard cross and a third place in a FIS race last February. Emil Zulian (23 years old from Pozza) competes in the spectacular discipline of the slopestyle snowboard.
There are 4 cross-country skiers, then, who compete under the Val di Fassa flag this winter. Both Caterina Ganz (25 years old, from Moena) who obtained her best result of 2020 last January in an Alpen Cup competition, and Giovanni Ticcò (20 years old from Moena), who is part of the Milano-Cortina national team and can boast a third place in the team race at the Junior World Championships in March 2020, have been confirmed. New of the team instead, Alessandro Chiocchetti (19 years old from Moena), who starts his adventure as a Val di Fassa ambassador after winning the sprint race at the Youth Italian Championship and after taking part in the Junior World Championships, and the young Simone Mastrobattista (18 years old from Moena) who showed off in January during a Yog cross country race. For the ski mountaineering, Val di Fassa counts on Giorgia Felicetti (22 years from Canazei), who has been in view for several years and has closed the past season with a fourth place in a World Cup competition while, for the ski jumping, there is Martina Ambrosi (19 years from Moena), who after the 2019-2020 is confirmed in the Val di Fassa team.
