The Ladin valley, also for the winter season 17/18 surprises with the cutting-edge innovations incrementing its appeal, also thanks to the numerous entertainment events and wellness offers
The beginning of the winter season, that will be in December, will coincide with the opening of the new lifts, such as the gondola from Alba to Ciampac, the renewal of the Pera – Catinaccio chairlifts, the fun week ends with music and sport, the family offers in January, still the concerts in the mountain in March and April and the thermal wellness from autumn to spring: the upcoming winter in Val di Fassa will be a season to remember with its news and vivacity. Let’s see what will implement the already rich winter offer of the valley: Val di Fassa counts on 7 ski areas, connected by slopes and means of transport, with 86 lifts, 4 ski tours among which we can find the Sellaronda, 6 snowparks, for a total of 210 km of slopes and 152 slopes. 95% of the slopes of the Val di Fassa – Carezza ski area has the chance to be covered by artificial snow thanks to the 1216 snow-cannons, whilst 230 snow-machines will produce artificial snow on the 86% of the Alpe Lusia – San Pellegrino ski area.
Ciampac gondola: take a ride to the future... it’s already here!
D-Line means maximum comfort for people, silence and speed. In December 2017, the innovative technology of Doppelmayr/Garaventa will be applied for the first time to the cable car (that substitutes the old one) from Alba di Canazei (1517m) to the Ciampac skiarea (2160m). A brand-new connection with gondolas for 10 people, where skis are vertically positioned in the ground and a glassy structure that allows passengers to look the mountains surrounding the valley during the 5-minutes transfer. With an hourly transportation capacity of 2000 people (that can be extended to 2400 passengers), the lift of Ciampac has similar performances to the funifor Alba-Col dei Rossi, opened in December 2015 (partially eliminating the ordinary queues): it becomes thus even easier and faster to move from the Ciampac skiarea to the Belvedere ski area, skiing the Skitour Panorama (73 km mostly connected by slopes, from Ciampedie to Col Rodella), the Sellaronda, that since 2015 gives the chance with the funifor Alba-Col dei Rossi to reach also the Buffaure skiarea. The Ciampac does not have only a new gondola transporting passengers from the valley, it also offers the Sella Brunech brand-new chairlift (with new lines), alongside the Roseal, that has become a 4-seats chairlift with automatic hooking system, pushing the appealing of the Ciampac hollow.
Lift innovations are happening also in the Catinaccio skiarea, where waiting queues in Pera will be managed with the introduction of two fast 4-seats chairlifts with automatic hooking (suitable also for hikers) will be replacing the previous old-school lifts. The Vajolet 1 will transport 1500 people per hour, whilst Vajolet 2 will carry more than 1800 passengers per hour.
Innovation is the keyword also for the Passo Pordoi area, where the old Vauz-Pordoi (Fodom) chairlift will be replaced by a modern 10-seats chairlift (28000 passengers per hour).
Among the numerous new slopes of the valley, the black slope at San Pellegrino, named “La Volata”, that was inaugurated during winter 16/17, has been modified in order to hosts, already during the upcoming winter season, prestigious ski competitions, and in February 2019 the “World Junior Championship” of alpine ski alongside other slopes such as the Aloch Skistadium in Pozza.
For sliders, at the Carezza skiarea, near the Nova Levante chairlift – only a bunch of km away from Vigo – a new route will be open.
