In Val di Fassa you can experience the life of the farmer at dawn on July 5th and 6th at Jumela, on July 19th and 20th at Sasso Piatto and on August 9th and 10th at Contrin
Once you have experienced #albeinmalga, in Val di Fassa, nothing will ever be the same: you’ll stare at the first sunrays with adoring eyes, cowbells will be an irresistible call, you’ll feel the desire of waking up very early and chase a pasture to muster the cattle and the wish of drinking only raw milk. These are just some of the "side effects" of one of the most amusing adventure to live in the Ladin valley where, even in summer 2019, the #albeinmalga ("At dawn in a mountain dairy") appointments are back. The initiative - which allows you to experience the life of the farmer at dawn and try to milk the cows, tidy up the barn, take care of the animals, pick up the fresh eggs, make breakfast with local products - has become a real "must" over the years. And, in Val di Fassa, this already starts on the day before the mythical dawn. In the programme, in fact, we find an excursion towards the dairy, together with a mountain guide, dinner and overnight by a refuge beside the mountain farm. Early in the morning, the alarm rings. It’s time to lead the cattle into the barn to be milked and to help the farmer with the other activities that conclude with a healthy breakfast that will give you energies to go back to the valley.
Here are the appointments, between July and August: the first one takes place on July 5th and 6th at Malga Jumela with overnight at Baita Cuz on Buffaure in Pozza; the second one, instead, on July 19th and 20th at Malga Sasso Piatto with overnight by Rifugio Sasso Piatto in Campitello; finally, on August 9th and 10th, appointment at Malga Contrin with dinner and overnight by the Rifugio Contrin over Alba di Canazei.
