Here, people travel at altitude more and better, thanks to thirtyish mountain lifts open and to PanoramaPass, the card with three different formula, conceived according to the duration of the holiday
Val di Fassa is the best destination to enjoy summer at altitude. Here, there is the biggest number of mountain lifts open during the warm months in the Dolomites – and probably in the whole Italian alpine arch: about thirty between cable cars, cabin lifts and chairlifts integrate well with the territory, acknowledged in 2009 a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Fassa, from this point of view, stands out also with the Dolomiti SuperSummer (the summer version of the Dolomiti Superski), that, in the warm season, counts about 100 lifts open throughout its twelve districts. The main part of the lifts, part of the districts Val di Fassa – Carezza and San Pellegrino - Alpe Lusia (equal to the ski areas), is open from June to October but some of them, such as the Sass Pordoi cable car, work for six months in a row: from May 18th to November 3rd. Periods of time and numbers that, if analysed in detail, highlight also other important aspects. There are 29 cable cars, cabin lifts and chair lifts open and: 17 are suitable for disabled people, 16 can transport bikes, 27 host our four-legged friends and 28, above all, allow to travel with the PanoramaPass from June 1st to October 6th. PanoramaPass is the card (united to the Val di Fassa Card of the partners of the local Tourist Board for discounts on activities and excursions) or the unlimited use of the lifts, proposed in three formulas, according to the duration of the holiday: 3 days out of 6 (you can take the lifts 3 days on choice within 6 consecutive days of validity of the card; adult ticket € 56 with Val di Fassa Card instead of € 65), 6 days out of 6 (adult ticket: € 79 with Val di Fassa Card, instead of € 92) and 7 out of 13 days (to choose within the validity period; adult ticket € 92 instead of € 106).
PanoramaPass (that includes even the travels with the public buses) in light of its considerable offer, quickly pays for itself. Especially this summer with the addition of 4 more lifts compared to 2018. “ We are starting an experimentation – Daniele Dezulian, president of the mountain lifts consortium Val di Fassa e Carezza, explains – to answer to the need of several guests who desire to reach easy and panoramic paths, better if ring-route. And this trend of looking for a connection with short itineraries stands out also in other mountain destinations. And if this trend goes on, we will probably enlarge the summer mountain lift offer”. Moreover, some of the cabin lifts and chair lifts that will open this summer for the first time, will also facilitate a more eco-friendly arrival to Sella and Pordoi pass: “we increase our service to reach also the dolomitic passes, in order to discourage, in part, the use of the cars” Less car on the roads and more hikers on the lifts: this is the path that is being persecuted in the latest year in Val di Fassa to reduce the traffic during the warm season, both on the passes and down in the valley.
