Hikes, paths and itineraries on the high mountain in Trentino’s Dolomites
Hiking is the queen of summer activities in Val di Fassa. Its paths’ network (signaled in red and white) is really dense and allows to explore every corner of the valley. You can choose both easy walks surrounded by nature and challenging itineraries that reach the summits of the "Monti Pallidi" (Pale Mountains). The routes suggested here, subdivided by typology, difference of level and difficulty level, satisfy all the hikers, from expert mountaineers to families with children. We disclaim legal responsibilities for contingent damages or accidents that may occur along the suggested paths. Suggested time for hiking: from June to the beginning of October. Have a look to the paths’ and refuges’ map. Check out also: rules for safety hiking in the mountains.

The itinerary leaves from the midway station of the Lusia cabin lift (1,820 m). "Valbona" is reached:
The excursion begins and ends in "Valbona" (1,820 m). For the return you can: take the cabin lift, walk down along the "Troi del Buro" path (no. 632) or along the forest road that leads to the valley cabin lift station in "Ronchi".
Notes: the Chalet Valbona and the Malga Pozza are the only refreshment places in the area. There are no huts or shelters at altitude. The route can also be done anticlockwise. Along the climb from "Valbona" to "Sas da Mesodì" trenches from the First World War are still visible.
Description path 2/c: take the Lusia cabin lift from "Ronchi" ("I Ronc") near Moena to the intermediate station at 1,820 m - refreshment at the restaurant Chalet Valbona. Then follow the dirt road marked no. 622 which passes the dairy Malga Poza (refreshments and dairy products). After this you keep going in a south-westerly direction. There is a bend to the right and then one to the left, after which you reach the east slope of the "Col de Poza". Next the track meets up with the path coming down from the top station of the cabin lift (path no. 614). After this the path heads due west to the pass known as "Sforcela de Pozil" at 2,151 m (1 hour). To carry on to the top of the "Sas da Mesodì", you need to go downhill slightly, then go to the right along a path which climbs up through the grassy slopes to the crest which joins "Col de Poza" to "Sas da Mesodì". The actual peak is at 2,299 m and can be reached by following the path (1 hour; 2 hrs). For the best views of Moena and the lower Val di Fassa you should go down to the bottom ridge. To get back to the cabin lift take the "Troi dei Soldai" ("Soldier’s Path") which descends steeply eastwards (1 hour; 3 hrs).
