The countdown to the beginning of the ski competitions season is on and the Ladin valley has been the FISI training centre for the national ski team for years as well as the location of important internationals races, to which also some of the ten testimonials of Val di Fassa take part
Next winter will be another season of skiing and important competitions in Val di Fassa. The World Cup will soon start (October 28, first giant slalom in Sölden) and the Italian champions will take part in several disciplines, trying to step up on the podium. A part of their success will be built in Val di Fassa, that has been FISI Training Centre for the National Ski Team, both for men and women, for several years, thanks to the "Blue pistes" (from the nickname "Azzurri" given to the National team) project. For the whole ski season the Ladin valley, thanks to a successful collaboration between Fisi, Val di Fassa Tourist Board, Dolomiti Superski, the lift companies and the local ski teams, gives to the national ski team the possibility to train their slalom, giant slalom, superG and downhill on 9 tracks. In the wake of our National team, also other teams often arrive, as well as some ski-stars like Lindsey Vonn, o train on these tracks. In particular, the "Skistadium Aloch" in Pozza, and "La VolatA" on San Pellegrino pass will host the competitions of the Alpine Junior World Ski Championships from February 18 to 27. Furthermore, on the Aloch will also take place two men slaloms, valid for the European Cup, on December 18 and 19, after a Snowboard World Cup competition on December 13, on the slope Pra di Tori on Karerpass. The "Blue pistes" slope have also seen the athletic growth of Chiara Costazza and Stefano Gross, the local slalom skiers, who compete in the World Cup (first race in Levi, on November 17 for her and on November 18 for him). Also other 8 athletes will be with them this year to compose the team of ten testimonials who will bring not only the colors of the National team, but also the name of their home, Val di Fassa, onto the most important "white arenas" in the world. With the expert slalom skiers Gross and Costazza there are the young Federico Liberatore, the snowboarders Mirko Felicetti (competing on December 13 on the Pra di Tori) and Caterina Carpano, the cross-country skiers Caterina Ganz and Sebastiano Pellegrin, the freestylers Igor Lastei, Emil Zulian and Giorgia Locatin and, finally, the skialper Giorgia Felicetti. Get ready to follow the local competitions of international value, our testimonials and – we hope – their numerous achievements.
