Val di Fassa Marathon skips this year’s edition due to the strong impact on the territory of the Vaia storm, which hugely damaged woods, paths and forest roads in October 2018. Is the appointment postponed to 2021, so? Only partially, actually, as Moena plays its trump card: a new organizing committee, the A.S.D. Racing Team Fiemme Fassa guided by Gianfranco Degiampietro, former technical director of the Marathon, and an exclusive bike week-end at mid-September, with three, very respectable events. The new program, infact, proposes the Lusia Legend Uphill on September 12th, with the legendary ascent to the "Lusia Alp", with departure from the square in Moena at 2.30 p.m. and arrival at "Le Cune", at 2,202 metres. 1,000 metres of positiv altitude gap, along 9 km, a path that highlights the difference between pro athletes and passionate amateur bikers. On September 13th, space to the new Extreme Uphill Val di Fassa, that will lead the competitors from the town centre of the village to the "Col Margherita", at 2,512 metres, first passing by the hamlet of "Someda" and then, along the stream "Rio San Pellegrino", and then off to the namesake pass. Here the final climb along the forest road that flanks "La Volata", one of the most demanding slopes in the Dolomiti Superski. A epic track, where long stretches with constant inclines alternate to steep ramps, where it's hard to stay on the bike, even for top bikers. The numbers speak clearly, 21 km for a total altitude gap of 1,450 metres and an exteemed average duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes. The timed uphill on Sunday is the last stage of the Trentino MTB, the engaging circuit of 5 stages on the dirt roads of the region, scheduled from May to September.
It is confirmed for 2020, instead, the second edition of the San Pellegrino Green Day, non-competitive multidisciplinary race (mountain bike, road bike, e-MTB, skiroll, running) on a unique track from Moena to San Pellegrino Pass, along the state road 346 that on Sunday, September 13th will be closed to the traffic from 9.00 a.m. to 12 p.m. At the departure, even the Val di Fassa sport champions.
