Suggested tours in Val di Fassa - Dolomiti Panorama Trek

Dolomiti Panorama Trek is a 200 km long excursion itinerary divided into 20 stages that goes through Val di Fassa, Fiemme and San Martino territories. Each stage of the route can also be covered separately and from any point on the itinerary you can descend to the valley and return quickly to the place of departure, also using the shuttle bus service, the taxi service or the lifts.


Guided excursions

The sheep’s path

Difficulty: easy
Walking time: 3-4 hours
Difference of level: 300 m
Start: downstream station of the Catinaccio cable car (Vigo di Fassa)
Arrival: Malga Vael - Carezza Pass
Highest point: 2,383
Description of the route: ascent to Ciampedìe by cable car (2,283 m). From here take the path called "Vial da le feide", which leads to the "Buja de Vael" (Vael basin). Follow the route until you reach the Roda de Vael and Baita Marino Pederiva refuges. Descent to Malga Vael. Lunch break (packed-lunch or lunch at the refuge). Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions are required.


Val Monzoni - Cima Undici

Difficulty: difficult
Walking time: 4-5 hours
Difference of level: uphill 600 m, downhill 900 m
Start: Val Monzoni (Pozza di Fassa)
Arrival: Cima Undici peak
Highest point: 2,468 m
Description of the route: from Pozza di Fassa take the mini-bus taxi to the Val Monzoni (terminus at the Malga Monzoni) and from there the steep path no. 624 to the Vallaccia refuge. Follow the indications to the Cima Undici peak. The panorama is superb with the Catinaccio mountains in the foreground and the Marmolada group behind. Go back along the same route. Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions are required.


Val de Grepa

Difficulty: medium
Walking times: 4-5 hours
Difference of level: uphill 200 m, downhill 800 m
Start: Canazei
Arrival: Fontanazzo 
Highest point: 2,348 m
Description of the route: take the cable car from Alba di Canazei to Ciampac (2,152 m), only one-way. From here follow path no. 645 to "Pian de Siele" (2,361 m). Then from "Pian de Siele", always on the same trail, go down through Val de Grepa. Stop for lunch (packed-lunch as there are no refuges on the way). Then down again to Fontanazzo. Come back to Canazei following the easy walk along the river Avisio. Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions are required.


Ciampac - Passo San Nicolò - Val Contrin

Difficulty: medium
Walking time: 5-6 hours
Difference of level: uphill 200 m, downhill 800 m
Start: Canazei
Arrival: Alba di Canazei
Highest point: 2,419 m
Description of the route: from Alba di Canazei take the lifts (cable car + chair lift) up to Sella Brunéch Pass (2,428 m). From here continue in the direction indicated by the signpost no. 613/B - equipped path "Lino Pederiva" (in certain places there is a metal safety cord). Reach the grassy saddle above "Sas Bianch" and then there is a steep diagonal to the west side of the "Varos" ridge (path no. 613). Here there are fortifications left from WW1. Go down to the San Nicolò Pass and to the refuge. Next take the path up behind the refuge (no. 608), which descends into Val Contrin. Follow the Contrin Valley all the way to Alba di Canazei. Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions are required.


The path of marmots

Difficulty: easy
Walking time: 5 hours
Difference of level: 400 m
Start and arrival: Pian Frataces - Lupo Bianco 
Route:
Pian Frataces - Valentini refuge - Sella Pass - Pian de Schiavaneis. Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions are required.


Col Rodella

Difficulty: medium
Walking time: 6 hours
Difference of level: 800 m
Start and arrival: Pian Frataces - Lupo Bianco
Highest point: 2,400 m
Description of the route: leave the car at Pian de Frataces near the Lupo Bianco hotel. Go down towards the hollow which used to be an artificial lake. Cross the "Ruf de Antermont" and take path no. 655 which actually runs along the forest road "Col de la Pica". Go up through the wooden huts and barns at "Pradel" and then cross the "Ruf de Val". Keep going along the edge of the forest until you reach a cross and a bench at "Costa Rossa". Turning right you go uphill through the trees and then you will come to a clearing called "Pian de Marizanela". Next there is a short steep section just before you reach the basin of "Val", an area renowned for its wide variety of alpine flora. At a fork turn left as you cross it and shortly after this you will reach "Pian de Siadoi" at 2,000 m. Cross it going then up through sparse fir and larch trees. Next you come to the Val Salei. The path proceeds gently as it climbs up the mountainside to the Valentini refuge at 2,213 m. Go left along the flat road to the Salei refuge, where the climb up to the "Forcela Rodela". From here, to the left, the uphill section to the Des Alpes refuge begins. Then you can take the path which leads up to the top of Col Rodella. You will reach the summit in 15 mins and the view of the Fassa Dolomites is quite exceptional. Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions are required.


Lusia lakes

Difficulty: medium
Walking time: 3.30-4 hours
Difference of level: 445 m
Start and arrival: at the downstream station of Lusia cabin lift, location "Ronchi"
Description of the route: take the Lusia cabin lift from "I Ronch" ("I Ronch") near Moena to "Le Cune" (2,200 m) and then go down to Lusia Pass. From the pass climb up to the Lasté chair lift terminal. Continue on the path no. 633 and then go down to Redolf bivouac and to the Lusia lakes. Behind the bivouac turn right onto trail no. 624, which leads to the La Rezila refuge. Now turn left and follow the forest trail to reach "Valbona". Descent by cabin lift. Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions are required.


Carezza Pass - Roda de Vael

Difficulty: difficult
Walking time: 7.30-8 hours
Difference of level: 1,200 m
Start and arrival: Moena
Description of the route: first you need to get to the Carezza Pass from Moena. Ascent by chair lift to Paolina refuge and from here take the trail no. 539 and then the panoramic path no. 549 (called the Hirzel-Weg) to the Roda de Vael refuge. Lunch break (packed-lunch or lunch at the refuge). Go back along the same route or from the refuge take the path no. 548, which leads directly to the Carezza Pass. Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions are required.


Malga Peniola

Difficulty: easy
Walking time: 1.40 hours
Difference of level: 286 m
Start and arrival: Moena
Description of the route: from Moena go to the hamlet of Sorte, follow the road round by the church. Keep going up the steep asphalt road to the Malga Panna restaurant. Continue along the easy dirt road to the Malga Peniola. Go back along the same route.


Passo alle Selle - Equipped path Bepi Zac

Difficulty: medium/difficult
Walking time: 5.30-6.00 hours
Difference of level: 440 m
Start and arrival: San Pellegrino Pass
Description of the route: leave the car at San Pellegrino Pass. Take the Costabella chair lift and from the upstream chair lift station follow the route no. 604 to Passo alle Selle. From here proceed along the equipped path "Bepi Zac" no. 637 to the Costabela peak. Back to San Pellegrino Pass along the trails no. 637/B and no. 604. Clothes and shoes suitable for mountain excursions are required.
