What is tourist tax?

From 1st November 2015, anyone staying a night in Val di Fassa is required to pay a tax, according to the provisions of Trentino Provincial Law no. 8/2002, article 16bis. The tax is being used to pay for tourist infrastructure such as transportation, information services, cultural performances and sport events.
The tourist tax needs to be paid per person and night, for a maximum of 10 consecutive nights at the same accommodation facility.



Tourist tax in Val di Fassa: who is to pay, how much and where

The amount of the tourist tax due for the accommodation facilities in Val di Fassa is:

from 01/01/2021 to 30/11/2021:

  • 1,80 Euro per person per night staying in facilities 4 stars superior and 4 stars;
  • 1,50 Euro per person per night staying in facilities 3 stars superior and 3 stars;
  • 1,00 Euro per person per night staying in facilities 2 stars, 1 star or not classified;
  • 1,00 Euro per person per night staying in facilities, such as: private rooms, farm houses, B&Bs, holiday homes and apartments, campsites, refuges with hotel service.

from 01/12/2021:

  • 2,50 Euro per person per night staying in facilities 4 stars superior and 4 stars;
  • 2,00 Euro per person per night staying in facilities 3 stars superior and 3 stars;
  • 1,50 Euro per person per night staying in facilities 2 stars, 1 star or not classified;
  • 1,50 Euro per person per night staying in facilities, such as: private rooms, farm houses, B&Bs, holiday homes and apartments, campsites, refuges with hotel service;
  • 1,00 Euro per person per night staying in private homes and apartments.


The following persons are exempt from the tax:

  • children under the age of 14;
  • those undergoing treatment at public and accredited private hospitals which have agreements with the national health service in the Province of Trento;
  • those accompanying patients hospitalised in public and accredited private hospitals which have agreements with the national health service in the Province of Trento, up to a limit of one accompanying person per patient;
  • civil defence workers and members of the police, armed forces and fire brigade if they are staying at the accommodation facilities in order to carry out their duties;
  • applicants for international protection, unaccompanied foreign children and the victims of trafficking temporarily housed at the accommodation facilities;
  • those staying at the accommodation facilities following measures adopted by the public authorities to deal with emergencies following disasters or events of an extraordinary nature;
  • those with certified disabilities (pursuant to Article 3 of Law No. 104 of 5 February 1992), by filling in the appropriate form.


How to pay tourist tax in Val di Fassa:
The tourist tax must be paid directly to the accommodation facility upon departure. Quotes for accommodation usually do not include the tourist tax. Details will be supplied on arrival.
