Men’s slalom valid for the European Cup on the slope "Aloch" in Pozza di Fassa
Throughout the winter, Val di Fassa, the flagship of skiing in Trentino, hosts important competitive events. To open the busy calendar of competitions is the traditional men's special slalom European Cup in two heats (10.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.), valid for the awarding of the "Elke Pastore" memorial. Spotlights on and starting gates open, therefore, on Sunday 17 December at the Ski Stadium "Aloch" in Pozza. Competing for the top step of the podium will be the best young up-and-comers, ambitious to reach the top of the rankings of the highest continental circuit. The athletes will have to show off their skills and technical preparation on the difficult course of narrow poles of the black slope, which, due to its difference in height (220 metres) and gradient (average 27%), is the ideal theatre for international level competitions.
Since 2006, the Ski Stadium "Aloch" has been the training centre for the Italian national ski team, as well as other teams such as the United States, Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Slovakia and Germany. Not only that, the entire valley, strengthened by local expertise and past experience, from the 2021 World Cup races to the 2019 Alpine Skiing Junior World Championships and the many FIS international competitions, is ready to host the Women's World Cup at San Pellegrino Pass on 24 and 25 February.
The Alpine Skiing European Cup is organised by FIS (the International Ski Federation) and in terms of importance, it is second only to the World Ski Cup.
