Puzzone Festival in Moena

A weekend to be tasted, for real cheese lovers and even for foodies of all ages, in the valleys Fassa and Fiemme. From the 15th to the 17th of September, "Festival del Puzzone di Moena Dop" is back, and besides Moena, place of birth of the King of Trentino’s cheeses, it involves the villages of Soraga and Predazzo, too. Three days of festival that include: tasty staged hikes, on foot or cycling, at the discovery of the production sites; visits to the farmers’ barns; aperitifs in the squares; tastings; masterclasses with an expert; workshops and treasure hunts dedicated to children. The most anticipated moments are the "Desmonteade", scheduled for Saturday, the 16th of September, in Soraga, and for Sunday 17th in Moena, when cows, sheep, and goats, adorned with flowers, come back from the alpine pasture with shepherds and breeders, parading along the village streets accompanied by music bands, folk groups, and local associations. For everyone, lunches and snack breaks in the square, with Ladin dishes and recipes, prepared by Associazione Albergatori di Moena.

Programme Puzzone Festival 2022 - Friday 16 September:

• 10.00 a.m. - Gourmet carriage. Original tour with four gourmet stops, between Moena and Soraga, on board a horse-drawn carriage. On reservation
  
• from 5.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. - Cheese & Wine Aperitif in the square "Piaz de Ramon" (Moena)
  
• 5.00 p.m. - Masterclass for Cheese Lovers at the bar/restaurant Hotel Stella (Moena). Sensory experience with expert Francesco Gubert to get to know the scents and secrets of Puzzone di Moena Dop
  

Programme Puzzone Festival 2022 - Saturday 17 September:

• from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. - Trekking of Puzzone di Moena Dop. Guided hike with breakfast at Agritur El Mas, cheese aperitif with "Mèlga de Fascia" in anticipation of the "Desmonteada de Soraga", Ladin picnic in Pianac accompanied by the music of "The Others" and, finally, snack with Mèlga de Fascia yoghurt. • 12.30 p.m. - "La Desmonteada" in Soraga (cow parade). Cattle parade, market of typical and handicraft products, traditional lunch, live cheese-making with the "Mèlga de Fascia", entertainment with music and performance by folk groups
  
• 4.00 p.m. - Taste Train. Tour in Predazzo through the Puzzone di Moena Dop cheese production chain, with a visit to a cowshed and aperitif narrated at the Bistrot Shop & Bar of the Predazzo and Moena cheese factory. Upon booking
  
• from 5.30 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. - Full-beer aperitif in the square "Piaz de Ramon" (Moena). Craft beer from Fassa Rampeèr and finger food and the musical accompaniment of Los Locos Armandos
  

Programme Puzzone Festival 2022 – Sunday 18 September:

• from 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. - Waiting for the "Desmonteada" (cow parade). Get to know and see the animals up close and take part in some fun workshops in the Predazzo sports field area
• 9.30 a.m. - Breakfast on the grass. Storytelling breakfast at the Pala da Rif in Moena. Reservation required
• 10.00 a.m. - Puzzone Bike Tour. Guided bike tour from Predazzo to Moena. On reservation
• 10.00 a.m. and 2 p.m. - Milk and "Tabià" (barns). An exciting themed treasure hunt through the streets of the characteristic quarter "Turchia" (Moena) 
• from 10.00 a.m. - From Milk to Cheese in the square "Piaz de Sotegrava" (Moena). Dairy experts transform milk into cheese, butter and ricotta by means of churning and churning
• 10.30 a.m. - Traditional cutting of the 5 PDO cheeses in the square "Piaz de Sotegrava" (Moena). Arrival of the big cart and cutting of the five wheels of Puzzone di Moena DOP from the dairy producers
• 11.45 a.m. - "La Desmonteada" in Moena (cow parade). Cows, sheep and goats return from the mountain pasture with shepherds and breeders parading through the streets and squares of Moena accompanied by the Moena band, folk groups and local associations; opening of Le piazze del gusto, Puzzone returns to the square with Ladin dishes and recipes, organised by the Moena Hoteliers' Association
• lunch and dinner - "A Tavola con il Puzzone di Moena Dop". Menus created for the occasion by local restaurants, holiday farms and malghe (shepherd's huts)
