At the end of the three-day trek, Paolo Fresu, Daniele Di Bonaventura and Pierpaolo Vacca conclude their experience in the Fassa Dolomites with a concert in the Val Contrin
Sounds of the Dolomites is a unique event. A music festival at high altitude that brings together musicians from all over the world in the most beautiful mountains of the Alps. The idea behind this initiative is simple: to combine the great passions for music, art and the mountains in a cycle of concerts under the banner of freedom and nature.
Sounds of the Dolomites: Paolo Fresu, Daniele Di Bonaventura, Pierpaolo Vacca, Giulio Ferraro, Giosuè Mazzei. Val Contrin (2016 m), Sunday 24 September, 12 noon
Programme: nature’s amphitheatre, surrounded by a valley that could almost be enchanted, and home to the Contrin Refuge, provides a fitting location for the end of the Suoni delle Dolomiti trek. The three-day hike takes place in an area appropriately known as the heart of the Dolomites, the Marmolada. In this very spot, under the September sunshine, you will enjoy a special project by Paolo Fresu, Daniele Di Bonaventura and Pierpaolo Vacca, accompanied by young people from the conservatory "F.A. Bonporti di Trento e Riva del Garda". This long-standing partnership has produced a critically and popularly acclaimed masterpiece, "Tango Macondo". According to one review, it is a «unique musical dialogue; an ode to wind instruments and lyricism that bears hints of the Mediterranean; the fruit of a collaboration between Fresu and Di Bonaventura, perfected by the contribution of Pierpaolo Vacca». The theatrical adventure that is the "Tango Macondo" show is produced by the Teatro Stabile di Bolzano and directed by Giorgio Gallione. The internationally successful duo, Fresu and Di Bonaventura, are joined by Vacca's creative accordion-playing, communicating the strange, profound and dreamlike ambience that characterises the "Tango Macondo" performance.
