Sellaronda Mountainbike: a panoramic tour to savour

In the past, the imposing Sella massif represented an invincible target for mountain bike lovers. Accompanied by a guide and with the aid of lifts to reach the top of the four Dolomite passes - Sella, Pordoi, Campolongo and Gardena - it is now possible, in just one day, to go around the Sella group by mountain bike (clockwise or anti-clockwise).
You can start from one of the villages situated around the Sella group like Selva Gardena, Corvara, Arabba, Canazei (by lifts to Pecol or Col dei Rossi) or Campitello di Fassa (by cable car to Col Rodella). The descents are performed mainly on single trails and only partly follow the road. It’s an unforgettable tour with a breathtaking view.
Clockwise (open from 2nd July to 11th September) the trail around the Sella massif has a length of about 58 km with a difference in altitude of 3.000 metres, of which 800 metres must be pedalled. Anti-clockwise (open from 25th June to 11th September) the length of the trail is of about 53 km with a difference in altitude of 3.000 metres, of which 1.300 metres must be pedalled.
The Sellaronda Mountain Bike can be managed only if accompanied by a MTB guide and for those owning the Bikepass Sellaronda (€ 25,00) for the use of the lifts.

Track composition:
- dirt 22,54 km (39.2%)

- single trail 6,86 km (11.9%)
- asphalt bike track 4,87 km (8.5%)

Dolomiti Lagorai Bike

1.000 km on mountain bike trails. This is the idea of Dolomiti Lagorai Bike, a project that sees the uniting, on two wheels, of  the Fassa, Fiemme and Valsugana valleys. More than 40 different itineraries have been drawn up and catalogued. Each one, on the official Dolomiti Lagorai Bike website, is presented in detail: technical data (length, difference in levels, degree of difficulty, time required to cover it, contours and terrain), Google interactive maps, pictures and descriptions. The trails, all GPS, can be downloaded free in kml e gpx formats.

Bike path

Fiemme and Fassa Dolomites cycling route

Close the Canazei sports field and playground you take the forest dirt road "Cercenà". Pedal along the easy, shady trail till you reach the Soreghès plain and the Col Rodella cableway station in Campitello di Fassa. Continue alongside the Avisio stream. Flat tracts alternate with short uphill ones until you reach, in the inhabited part of Mazzin, a hump with benches and wooden children’s playground equipment. The descent to Pera di Fassa starts here. There are then more easy up and downhill tracts to Fraine. With the wooden bridge on your right and the votive chapel on your left, continue along the dirt road passing pleasant sloping fields. On entering the town of Pozza di Fassa take the Strada di Bagnes (from Piaz de Comun - Tourist Office in the direction of the tennis courts - Dò Vea). You descend towards Moena along the asphalted road. The track once again runs alongside the Avisio stream, among fields and woods, but you also get magnificent views of the peaks of Latemar and of the Catinaccio. Cycle carefully along the municipal road that serves the industrial area of Soraga and you will reach the playground and town centre in a few minutes. Take the underpass to safely cross under the highway and you will come to the uphill stretch that leads to "Palua". On turning to look back, your gaze falls upon theVal di Fassa, in all its beauty, framed by the high "crode" (falls) of rocks of the  Rosengarten (Catinaccio), of Sassolungo, of Pordoi and of the Monzoni. Continue the descent to Moena. The cycle path finishes near the Minigolf Fantolin and the Centro di Addestramento Alpino (Alpino Training Centre). You must cross the town (highway or Prato di Sorte) to reach the Moena plain, the starting point in winter of the legendary Marcialonga, and regain the cyclepedestrian path that goes on down to Predazzo and Val di Fiemme.

Mountain bikers behaviour rules

  1. Remember you are a guest of nature: ride only on marked dirt roads and trails; respect "no entry" and private property signs; do not cross fields and pastures.
  2. Pedestrians and hikers always have right of way: signal your coming in advance; moderate your speed depending ong the different situation.
  3. Do not leave traces of your passage: avoid braking sharply and restarting (excessive soil erosion); avoid riding on the trails after pouring rains (excessive soil erosion); do not leave rubbish;
  4. Respect the local flora and fauna: avoid riding in protected areas and nature parks (such as swamps or fragile ecosystems); always close the pasture gates after your passage; avoid excessive and disturbing noises; do not scare the cattle and the wildlife.
  5. For your own safety: plan your tours in advance; check that your equipment is fit and in good conditions; always use helmet and bike gloves; do not overestimate your technical and physical possibilities.
