Moena celebrates the patron saint of the village, San Vigilio, who also gives his name to the parish church
The festival of San Vigilio is one of the most heartfelt celebrations for the people of Moena: a day that combines devotion, local identity and community spirit. The celebrations begin at dawn, at 6:00 a.m., with the traditional musical wake-up call by the municipal brass band, which marks the start of the day. Shortly afterwards, the band accompanies the population in a parade to the parish church, where, at 10:00 a.m., a solemn Mass is celebrated with the participation of civil authorities, law enforcement officers, firefighters, Red Cross volunteers, cultural groups and the Schützen company of Val di Fassa. After the service and the traditional tasting of classic "grostoli" (tipical sweets) offered by the parish group of Moena, at 11:30 a.m. the procession moves to the town square for the band's grand concert, a symbolic and much-anticipated moment. Throughout the day, the squares come alive with music, voices and aromas, with food stands and food trucks offering typical specialities, live concerts involving the public, and areas dedicated to children with entertainment, creative workshops and face painting.
