At dawn in a mountain dairy - Couler Dairy

Programme

Friday July 11th

• 4.30 pm: Meet at the Vajolet chairlifts in Pera to reach Gardeccia and then: everyone on the chairlift! There are three sections to climb, comfortably seated with a view of the Catinaccio
• 4.50 pm: once off the lifts, put on your backpacks and set off along the path that leads to the refuge. During the walk, led by our mountain guide, we will learn the names of the peaks and, if we are lucky, we may even spot some of the wild animals that live in this area
• 6.30 p.m.: we arrive at the Stella Alpina Spiz Piaz mountain hut. Take off your shoes and backpacks and find a place to sleep: we will all sleep together!
• 7.15 p.m.: Dinner time! We'll be hungry after this lovely walk... Filippo, Rosi and their children will satisfy the appetites of young and old alike with typical local dishes
• 9 p.m.: everyone under the duvets: tomorrow is an early start!

Saturday July 12th

• 5 a.m.: time to wake up! It will be a bit tiring at first, but when will we ever get to see the sun rise from up here again?
• 5.30 a.m.: outside the refuge, we enjoy the first rays of light illuminating the Dolomite peaks. Then we set off for the nearby Malga Couler and meet Stefan and Ivana
• 5.45 a.m.: divided into small groups, we try our hand at the activities of the malga: from milking cows to combing the livestock and accompanying the cows to the pastures
• 7 a.m.: after all the work, we are served a delicious breakfast at the malga, consisting of fresh milk, fruit juices, jams, homemade and traditional cakes, eggs, butter, cheese, speck and other cold cuts, fresh bread... and much more!
• 8.30 a.m.: with our energy replenished, we are ready to set off again with the mountain guide for the return hike, with the option, before returning to the valley, of reaching the Vajolet via the new Panoramic Trail, or Col de Barbolada, thanks to a route that leads to a panoramic viewpoint in the Gardeccia area. Our guide will assess the most suitable route based on the group's abilities and weather conditions.
