Capanna Punta Penia

The Rifugio Capanna Punta Penia is not easy to get to: if you’ve come from the north you’ve crossed a glacier; from the west a via ferrata; if you’ve come from the south, well done - you’ve climbed one of the toughest faces in the Dolomites. This refuge is the ultimate destination: from here you can’t go any higher. You're on the summit of the Marmolada, the highest in the Dolomites. But if you still have the energy (and above all mountaineering skills and suitable equipment) you can go along the Marmolada’s ridges to the slightly lower Punta Rocca (difficulty EEA), where the cable car arrives from Malga Ciapela.
