In the lush Ciampac basin near the top station of the Alba di Canazei cable car is the Rifugio Tobià del Giagher, which in Ladin means the Hunter’s Hayloft: on one side is Colac, on the other, Crepa Neigra, and in the background the Sella Group. Sella Brunech (a 1 hour walk, difficulty E) is the beginning of the walk down the Val Giumela (difficulty E), the walk up Sass de Adam (difficulty EE) and the start of the Bruno Pederiva protected path to Passo San Nicolò. If you’re a via ferrata fan, there’s the Finanzieri via ferrata on Colac (2 ½ hours for the ferrata itself, difficult EEA).
