From Valle Monzoni leave the more frequented path (towards Creste di Costabella) and instead turn right and go up the Conca di Gardecia, where - at 2,275 metres above sea level, at the end of a rather steep stretch - there is a small wood and stone refuge in the midst of high Alpine pastures at the foot of Sasso delle Undici. It might look like Heidi’s house, were it not for the fact that this picturesque ... refuge is very new (it was built in the eighties) and instead of the Swiss Alps the view is of the Marmolada and the Dolomites that surround it. Open: From 17 June to 2 October Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks It’s a 1 ¼ hour walk along an easy path to Rifugio Monzoni Torquato Taramelli, and from there you can continue to Rifugio Bergvagabunden Hütte in 2 ½ hours (difficulty E). A very long circular route (for experts only) from the refuge follows the Bruno Federspiel protected path on Great War pathways, and returns via Passo Selle. From Rifugio Vallaccia it’s possible to climb Cima Vallaccia and Sasso delle Undici in 1 hour on easy paths.
