Dawn in the Dolomites: Mario Brunello and Polish Cello Quartet

Expired event!

Dawn in the Dolomites at Col Margherita: concert at sunrise with Mario Brunello and Polish Cello Quartet

Sounds of the Dolomites is a unique event. A music festival at high altitude that brings together musicians from all over the world in the most beautiful mountains of the Alps. The idea behind this initiative is simple: to combine the great passions for music, art and the mountains in a cycle of concerts under the banner of freedom and nature. In addition to the events of Sounds of the Dolomites, which usually take place in the early afternoon, there are some that are particularly evocative because they are offered in the light of the first rays of sunlight. This is the Dawn of the Dolomites, which allows one to appreciate the unique beauty, colours and silences of our mountains at the beginning of the day.

Sounds of the Dolomites: special project "Dawn in the Dolomites". Mario Brunello and Polish Cello Quartet. Col Margherita (San Pellegrino Pass - Moena), Friday 1 September at 6.30 a.m.

Programme: the magical first light of lawn illuminates the night sky begin to warm up for another year on Col Margherita. The Polish Cello Quartet - made up of four of the top cellists in the current generation of performers: Tomasz Daroch, Wojciech Fudala, Krzysztof Karpeta and Adam Krzeszowiec - and Mario Brunello's 17th-century Maggini cello will work together to seal that profound moment of suspension between darkness and light. Founded in 2011, the Polish Cello Quartet has won significant awards both for their solo and chamber performances, and has played on the most prestigious stages, collaborating with renowned classical and jazz musicians. In 2019, the quartet received the prestigious Fryderyk Music Award for their second album, which included works by composer Grażyna Bacewicz (Chandos). During the "symphonic" concert programme, extremely rare transcriptions will be performed by the cello ensemble, including Dvořák's cello concerto and the highly renowned Boléro by Ravel.
