Women's Alpine Ski World Cup Weekend: parade through the town centre, official award ceremony in the main square, and the bib draw for Sunday's super-G
From Friday 6 to Sunday 8 March, the Women's Alpine Ski World Cup comes to Val di Fassa: three days of pure speed on the La VolatA slope at Passo San Pellegrino, as the valley steps onto the international stage. A milestone built over time: more than thirty years of commitment, professionalism and passion. Today, Val di Fassa hosts three races in the world's top circuit, thanks to a highly qualified technical team and hundreds of volunteers who bring experience, dedication and expertise gained from major sporting events and from its role as a national training centre. A sporting success that is, above all, a team success.
On Saturday 7 March, Moena lights up the celebrations with a grand parade in the heart of the village - with music, torches and applause - paying tribute to the champions. A fire show will ignite the start of the parade in Piaz de Ramon, before the procession follows a circular route to Piaz de Sotegrava, where all participating groups will be presented to the public. Leading the parade will be the Italian athletes competing this weekend - the true stars of the World Cup. Joining them will be:
- the instructors from the five ski schools of Moena, Vigo, Pozza, Campitello and Canazei
- the Moena Town Band
- the Soraga Folk Group
- local and regional authorities
- representatives of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI)
- the "Scufons del Cogo"
- the ski clubs US Monti Pallidi, FassActive and Ski Team Fassa together with the Ski College students
- representatives of the volunteer groups: Moena Alpine Unit of the State Police, Predazzo Alpine Unit of the Guardia di Finanza, Moena Mountain Rescue, and the Italian Red Cross - Val di Fassa section
- the Circenensema juggling group from Val di Fassa
A special moment for fans and young ski club athletes: to experience the excitement of the World Cup up close, meet the champions, look them in the eye and feel inspired. For many, dreams begin just like this - at the edge of the slope, carried by the applause echoing through the square.
At 6:30 p.m., the programme continues with the Downhill prize-giving and the draw of bib numbers for Sunday's Super-G.
And for those who want to keep the celebrations going, head to Bait del Pencio for street food featuring authentic mountain flavours. Volunteers from the ONLUS Bambi association will also be there with candy floss and popcorn, collecting donations to support children with rare or chronic illnesses and their families.
Before and after the parade, from 5:00 p.m.: carriage rides through the town centre, departing from Piaz de Ramon. No booking required. Cost: € 5 adults / € 3 children.
