Starting from the the St. Nicholas church, the brass band of Vigo parades along the main road, which is closed to traffic, until it reaches the events pavilion, where it performs a selection of the most beautiful traditional and modern pieces from its repertoire
Music has always played a central role in the lives of the inhabitants of Fassa: it accompanies everyday life, church celebrations, dances and village festivals. The first musical ensemble of Vigo was founded in 1820 by the organist of the parish church of San Giovanni, Giovanni Battista Detomas. Originally, the band's activities were exclusively linked to religious functions, so much so that the musical instruments were part of the church's patrimony. Over time, however, the performances expanded, becoming increasingly present in the life of the community. In 1841, the band even welcomed the arrival of the King of Saxony, Frederick Augustus, who was visiting the valley to study Dolomite botany.
Today, the "Musega da Vich", passionately conducted by Maestro Alessandro Ghetta, includes around sixty musicians, two flag bearers and a lively group of women in traditional local costume accompanying the band, all volunteers. They are joined by a large number of students, who proudly represent the future of the group. The repertoire alternates traditional pieces with modern pieces, showcasing the sensitivity and instrumentation of today's band.
In case of bad weather, only the concert will be held in the events pavilion.
