Two performers who seem like four, four or five hats flying through the air, bubbles, giant unicycles and an audience that finds itself right in the middle of the show
Two performers who are worth four. This is the starting point for the show by i4elementi, a theatre company that has staged over 500 performances and taken its brand of comedy all over Italy and to major European festivals, from Germany to Switzerland, from Belgium to Denmark, and as far afield as Slovenia, Austria and Latvia. On stage - and often just off it - few words are needed. It is mainly rubber faces, gestures, glances and improvisations that do the talking, created on the spot together with the audience. Because here, the audience doesn't just sit and watch: they join in the fun and can, without much warning, become part of the show.
The act ranges from soap bubbles to juggling with five hats, where rhythm and elegance follow the music, right through to unicycles over two metres tall that move within a circle formed by the audience themselves. A variety of acts, held together by the two artists' comic timing and their ability to engage both children and adults without the need for long speeches. And precisely because so much arises from the interaction with the audience, each performance can take a different turn. The finale? Minimal, absurd and designed to achieve one of the simplest yet most difficult things to elicit: a collective laugh.
i4elementi came third in the Italian Street Art Award ‘La Catena di Zampanò’ in Rimini.
