Schuhplattler de Ciampedel

Dancing evening with Schuhplattler de Ciampedel

Do not miss the performance of one of the most picturesque folk groups in the Dolomites, with jumps, moves and slaps

"Schuhplattler" is a German word for a particular style of Bavarian and Tyrolean dancing practised by men, dating back as early as 1050 as a form of courtship. Translated, it literally means "shoe beater". The dancers' movements are fast, almost acrobatic, with hand claps on the legs and soles of shoes. They jump, spin, sometimes yodel and playfully slap each other to the joyful rhythm of the accordion. Officially established in 1980, but already born in the early post-war years thanks to the teachings of a boy from Fiè allo Sciliar (Alpe di Siusi), the Campitello group boasts appearances at the Munich Oktoberfest (1981) and at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Turin (2006), as well as appearances on the Italian television programmes "Le Iene", "Quelli che il calcio", "La prova del cuoco" and "Chi ha incastrato Peter Pan". The choreographies, about ten in number, that the "Schuhplattler de Ciampedel" perform are linked to local traditions, such as the dance of the mower, the festival or the woodcutter (holzhocker). A short presentation introduces them and briefly explains their history and movements. The fifteen dancers are accompanied by girls and women in typical Ladin costume who also participate in some of the dances.

At 9 p.m. at the PalaDolomites events pavilion in Campestrin. Free admission.

Event location: PalaDolomites | Campestrin, Mazzin (Campestrin - Fontanazzo)
