A falconry display at Alpe Lusia, featuring spectacular flights and majestic birds of prey that illustrate the ancient bond between man, animal and mountain
At Alpe Lusia, in the Paneveggio Nature Park, against the majestic backdrop of the Pale di San Martino, an exciting display dedicated to the ancient art of falconry comes to life. Dizzying dives, lightning-fast turns and silent glides transform the flight of the birds of prey into a choreographed spectacle suspended between sky and earth. Guided by their falconers, the falcons will take flight, displaying power, elegance and pride, in an ancient dialogue based on respect, trust and mutual understanding between man and animal. Falconry has its roots in a history stretching back thousands of years: from the earliest records in Mesopotamia and China through to the Middle Ages, when it became a symbol of nobility and refinement, reaching its peak at the court of Frederick II.
How to reach Lusia Pass: from the top station of the gondola at Le Cune (two sections: Ronchi-Valbona + Valbona-Le Cune), the refuge can be reached with a short walk of about 20 minutes. To return, you can follow the same route or walk down to Valbona (and from there return to Ronchi by cabin lift), or continue on foot directly to Ronchi.
Price: free activity, organised by SIF Lusia lift company. Registration not required. Gondola lift ticket not included. The Panorama Pass and Dolomiti Supersummer pass are valid. Info: +39 346 3639538. In case of bad weather, the activity may be subject to change.
