Don't miss the performance - featuring jumps, moves and slaps - by one of the most original folk groups in the Dolomites
Schuhplattler is a German word referring to a traditional Alpine dance popular in Bavaria and Tyrol. The name literally means "shoe-slapper" and refers to the dancers' characteristic movements, as they keep time by clapping their hands on their thighs, knees and the soles of their feet. According to tradition, this dance was practised centuries ago as a form of courtship. With its jumps, spins, yodelling and playful challenges between dancers, the show captivates audiences with its energy, skill and engaging spirit.
The Schuhplattler de Ciampedel trace their origins back to the early post-war years and were officially formed in 1980. Over the years, they have taken the traditions of the Val di Fassa far beyond the valley’s borders, taking part in Munich's Oktoberfest, the opening ceremony of the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics and numerous national television programmes. The choreographed routines, around ten in total, draw inspiration from mountain life and traditions, with dances dedicated to the haymaker, the woodcutter and village festivals. The fifteen male dancers are accompanied by girls and women in Ladin costume, who enrich the performance with colour, elegance and authenticity.
At 9 pm at the events pavilion Ischia, near the Col Rodella 3S cable car. Free admission.
