A meeting with the dog handling team from the Italian State Police's Alpine Training Centre in Moena at Alpe Lusia
Have you ever seen a police dog in action? A special event to find out first-hand how these extraordinary four-legged companions are trained, ready to step in during emergencies. We will be joined by dog handlers and representatives from the Moena team, a unit of national distinction: it is, in fact, the only unit within the State Police that specialises in mountain environments, as well as in open terrain and rubble. Through stories, demonstrations and personal accounts, we will discover just how much preparation, trust and teamwork lie behind every search and rescue operation: from the snows of the Val di Fassa to the most challenging scenarios, such as Amatrice and the Marmolada. An opportunity to learn, be moved and discover the quiet courage of those who work alongside their dogs every day.
Meeting point: at 2.30 pm on the terrace of Chalet Valbona, reachable by the Ronchi-Valbona gondola. Dogs are not allowed. Return to the valley by lift around 4 pm.
Price: free activity organised by SIF Lusia lift company, included in the Panorama Pass, the Dolomiti Supersummer pass or with a valid lift ticket. Registration by phone on +39 0462 573770 or online by 6 pm on the previous day. Activity cancelled in the event of bad weather. This activity is held in Italian only.
