Drums, fire and ancient rhythms: a captivating show inspired by ancient Aztec rituals, featuring the Mexican company Quetzalcoatl
Quetzalcoatl is the name, in the ancient Nahuatl language, of the feathered serpent, one of the principal deities of the Aztec world. This powerful and symbolic figure is the subject of a performance by the Mexican trio comprising Francisco Velez Cosgall, a dancer, choreographer and percussionist; Hannibal Canolik, a percussionist and drummer; and Raul Somarriba Hernandez, an actor, percussionist and drummer.
On stage, three moving bodies play with fire with elegance and agility, whilst the relentless rhythm of the drums takes the audience on an imaginary journey to the Aztec world: one of the great pre-Columbian civilisations, proud and warlike, capable of building its capital, Tenochtitlán, as a city of water in the heart of the jungle.
The percussion marks the beat, the movements become dance, and fire - a powerful element of nature - draws luminous figures in the air. Against the backdrop of the Dolomites that embrace Moena, the show takes on even greater power, creating images of great visual impact and transforming the evening into a collective ritual of rhythm, energy, light and wonder.
At 9.15 pm in the main square. Free admission. In case of bad weather, it will be held at the Navalge Theatre (tourist office).
