From the Pale di San Martino to the world: harmonious voices intertwining stories, emotions and roots
The Sass Maor male voice choir of Tonadico was founded in 1974 on the initiative of a group of young people from Primiero. Initially conducted by Don Giuseppe Seppi and, since 1981, by Tullio Dalla Sega, it is dedicated to collecting and arranging local folk songs passed down orally by the area's elders. This valuable work of research and cultural promotion has been supported over the years by the collaboration of musicians who have shared its spirit and recognised its importance. Throughout its history, the choir has performed in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and, in 1998, in southern Brazil. In 2004, to mark its thirtieth anniversary, it reached the summit of Sass Maor (2,814 m) on foot - the mountain from which it takes its name - accompanied by the Primiero-San Martino di Castrozza mountain guides. Two years later, it took part in the international festival I Suoni delle Dolomiti in Val Veneggia, performing the contemporary work "Vijidaes" (Visions) by maestro Giorgio Battistelli. Today, the choir has around forty members and has been conducted by maestro Federico Orler since 2018. Its repertoire ranges from folk and mountain songs to original pieces, as well as Christmas and religious compositions.
At 9.15 pm in the multi-purpose hall of the "La Gran Ciasa" community building in Soraga (tourist office). Admission free.
