The typical New Orleans and Chicago atmospheres of the 1920s come alive for one evening in Vigo thanks to the Trentino jazz octet
With the Tiger Dixie Band, music takes new paths without ever forgetting its roots. For over twenty years, this octet from Trentino has been one of the few international groups to devote itself passionately to reviving the jazz of the "roaring twenties", offering a fresh, original and surprisingly contemporary interpretation. The atmosphere of New Orleans and Chicago - between Dixieland, ragtime and Charleston - is brought back to life in both tone and spirit, thanks in part to the use of period instruments that recreate the authentic flavour of those years. The repertoire ranges from giants such as Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller and Bix Beiderbecke, but the band's sound is anything but nostalgic. Filtered through the modern musical experiences of its members, jazz is renewed: careful arrangements, brilliant improvisations and a perfect fusion of past and present make each piece vivid, nuanced and irresistibly alive.
