Celebration of Holy Mass in the village's little church dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. This will be followed by a concert by "El Bandin de Tiézer" brass band from Tesero in Val di Fiemme, in the square in front of the town hall
It boasts one of the oldest place names in Val di Fassa, first mentioned as early as 1142 under the name "Vundenates". Fontanazzo, from the Ladin word "fontanac" - meaning "land rich in spring water" - is the most populous hamlet of Mazzin and still retains the authentic character of mountain villages to this day. In the centre of Lower Fontanazzo stand the town hall, decorated with a fresco of Saint Mary Magdalene and bas-reliefs depicting traditional crafts, and the 17th-century church, which dominates the square with its distinctive shingle-clad bell tower. Next to it stands "El Pèster de Fascia", the shepherd of Fassa: a bronze statue that has become a symbol of the valley and a tribute to a figure who, for centuries, has been an integral part of the life and economy of the Alpine communities.
