Last rays of sunshine in a mountain dairy - Malga Couler

Arrive at Malga Couler in time to watch the late afternoon milking. Then enjoy the evening in front of one of the most beautiful views in the Val di Fassa, when the peaks are lit up by the last rays of the sun, and a rustic aperitif with products made from alpine milk. The guided walk back is an opportunity to experience the magic of the “blue hour”, surrounded by silence and scents, curiosities and secrets of the mountain pastures and Dolomite woods.

What you will do:

• 3:30 PM: meeting at the Vajolet chairlift in Pera di Fassa. Start of the ascent to the beautiful Gardeccia basin with the hiking guide, following the easy “Path of Legends” (about 30 minutes, 102 m ascent).
• 4:45 PM: arrival at Malga Couler. Meet Stefan and his family and, together with the herders, experience the most authentic moment: gathering the cows from the pasture and leading them to the barn, being careful where you step.
• 5:15 PM: everyone in the barn for the milking demonstration. An opportunity to learn the cows’ names, discover their breeds, and understand whether they are expecting a calf or have just given birth.
• 7:00 PM: aperitif at sunset. The perfect moment to enjoy a relaxing aperitif with malga cheeses and cured meats, polenta paired with craft beer, and to finish, Fassa yogurt and traditional sweets, all on the panoramic terrace.
• 8:00 PM: return to the valley with a guided hike back to Pera (about 1 hour 45 minutes, 627 m descent; return is only possible on foot), enjoying the fading sunlight and the serene mountain atmosphere.
