Giro D'Italia Climbs Passo Pordoi

Giro d'Italia Climbs - Passo Pordoi

Bici da corsa

The climb to Passo Pordoi, often a stage finish of the Giro d'Italia, is very regular with an altitude gain of 800 m spread over a length of 12.8 km.

At Passo Pordoi, first stop at the monument dedicated to Fausto Coppi, which recalls the legendary achievements of the "campionissimo". At the inauguration in July 2000, his daughter Marina and Coppi’s three teammates, Ettore Milano, Franco Giacchero, and Michele Gismondi were present. Second stop in front of Gilberto Simoni's Wilier Triestina Cento1, embedded since 2011 in a monument of rock and metal. It is the same bicycle with which the Trentino rider entered the Arena of Verona closing his last Giro d’Italia, in 2010.

Author's advice:

Recommended periods: from late April to late June and from September to late October. In July and August, traffic is particularly heavy on the Dolomite passes (cars, motorcycles, buses).

E-bike charging and a small repair kit are available at the valley station of the Pordoi cable car. Refreshment points are available along the route.
