In the footsteps of the "Frati" of Val Duron

A journey to the origins of the Dolomites, when they were submerged in a tropical marine environment, among carbonate rocks formed from the fossilised remains of shells, corals and algae.

From Campitello, the initial section of Val Duron ("Lesta") is shady and very steep. As it runs alongside the stream, it can be icy.

At the trailhead there is a Girsberger Artva checkpoint allowing ski mountaineers or snowshoers equipped with self-rescue gear to check the status of their device. The checkpoint also records passages, so you know exactly how many people pass on the trail and how many of them have the Artva.
