At the entrance to the valley, a Girsberger Artva checkpoint is installed to allow ski mountaineers or snowshoers equipped with self-rescue equipment to check the status of their device. The checkpoint also records passes, so it is known exactly how many people pass on the trail and how many of them have the Artva.
